Overview
This Time Test colt has arrived safely at Highline Thoroughbreds in Cambridge, following the Karaka Yearling sales, and has settled in very well. A late November foal, who was a touch behind at the sales, has now been in the paddock for 2 weeks and is already growing and physically improving.
This yearling colt is destined for a Spring 3-year old campaign in New Zealand, where he will target the traditional 1400m to 1600m Guineas races first. He is tough, out of an imported Galileo mare, via Valachi Downs, so could well reach derby heights come the autumn.
He would suit an owner, on a budget looking to buy into their first racehorse. He was well bought in the ring, and has a massive amount of improvement in him - due to being a late foal. We are excited to see this horse develop in the coming 6 months and to all the new owners out there, this colt is a big chance at value, with an international pedigree.
The Horse Himself
This colt has the classic English pedigree, the Dubawi sire line over a Galileo mare which is one of the best performed genetic crosses globally.
He will develop into a cracking physical colt and visually take strongly after Time Test’s sire Dubawi, he has no Galileo about him in appearance, and when he parades. He has an “on the go” demeanour about him, and was quite active when he paraded for us at the sale, which we liked. He walked with purpose and was a very proud individual with the way he carried himself typical of Dubawi.
Conformation wise, he is very good, with tidy limbs and joints. He will probably grow to be about 16.0 hands and sit at around 510kg racing weight. He is balanced and is all Dubawi in the flesh.
Why Did Kingmakers Buy Him?
In one word, International. Sales horses in NZ don’t have the classic British sire lines as much as they did years ago - with English sires lines featuring on nboth sides of the family. This colt is out of imported Galileo mare, by Dubawi’s son Time Test, and is the same cross as our current 2025 derby bound colt Interplanetary.
We have had great success with buying horses out of imported mares, including Group One winner Ceolwulf, who was out of imported mare La Brisas, raced by Kingmakers Director of racing. Gaultier was also out of a French mare and won a Group One.
So we thought we should go with the classic British pedigree again and get a colt out of another imported mare.
In summary, this colt was bought from Karaka's Book 2 Yearling Sale, Lot 842. The imported mare, Sister Celeste, is not done yet and will drop something special. We are excited to see this boy develop and are confident he’ll be a Dubawi 2.0 on the racetrack.
