THE FOUNDER'S STORY

The culmination of a 15 year racing apprenticeship

Kingmakers is a revolution in racehorse ownership, founded by track-proven owner Leighton Howl. We’re here to elevate the racehorse syndication experience, making ownership more personal, measured, and ambitious.

Our Principal Owner concept recognises leaders in the racing industry and our Crafted Syndicates bring aligned groups of owners together, with shared goals for success. Limited to 10 handpicked, like-minded owners, each syndicate is curated around a Principal Owner, and of course, a meticulously selected racehorse.

Kingmakers takes a proven approach to buying horses that develop into the best runners. Founder and Director, Leighton Howl has been quietly selecting horses with great success over the last 15 years. Putting his own million where his mouth is, he’s won big races on both sides of the Tasman, and sealed lucrative deals in Asia as well. Hailing from a farm near Matamata he’s had a lifelong racing apprenticeship - growing to understand horses and handling from his early days to notable success on the track.

An owner of 30 racehorses and counting, Leighton has already raced three individual G1 Winners and another five black type winners (Ceolwulf and Lupo Solitario to name drop a couple). That equates to 23% Black Type winners to purchases ratio. He’s also pin-hooked million-dollar horses to Hong Kong, and raced four older types in Sydney, under the care of Joe Pride. One of them, Mach Schnell, making it from his first start at Ruakaka as a 4-year-old to winning four at Randwick.

Now it’s time to share this wealth of equine experience. Kingmakers is a unique opportunity to race and win with astute owners. It’s a smarter way to step in to ownership, step up to the winner’s circle, or bag that big brag-worthy result.

Share your racing goals with us and let’s kick them together.
