Monthly finances and the horse's individual syndicate account are managed by an external Financial Controller, Martin Jackson. Formal financial accounts are provided quarterly upon request, by any Kingmakers owner for the horse they have an ownership share in.

The Horse Himself

This horse will stay and be trained in Auckland -  destined for a derby locally or in Australia. He may also become a nice trade horse at the end of his 3 year old racing season, pending performance.

This horse is currently in training with Conor & Sarah Fahy in Pukekohe, Auckland. He breaths very well, and moves great under the saddle. Early reports confirm he is good to go and ready to be syndicated to owners with no reported physical issues from his track riders and trainer.

To sum this horse up, we would say he is very relaxed, confident, forward and balanced physically. He has a natural floaty action, and is described as a lovely ride by Conor Fahy, who broke him in initially, and who now is riding and training him. He has a strong action overall and is tractable through the line. A natural athletic, workman-like horse with a large hind quarter, where most of his power and balance comes from.

Conformation wise, he is correct and will no doubt grow to around 16.2 hands and sit at 520-530kg as an older racehorse. He won’t be big and heavy as a 3 year old, and his early balanced topline will assist early racing. His feet and legs are tidy, correct and most of all he has a lovely profile and is mentally sound (see videos attached).

Why Did Kingmakers Buy Him?

This 2 year old colt was bought from Karaka's November Ready to Run Sale, a sale of 400 hundred 2 year olds in training, many targeted to be sold to offshore owners and trainers. It is the same sale Kingmakers Founder, Leighton Howl, bought Group One performer Ceolwulf out of two years ago, alongside Sydney trainer Joe Pride. Many other horses profiled in the Kingmakers Journal also went through this super sale.

This colt will be a distance horse, the perfect candidate for the New Zealand / Australian Derby (think 2000m+). He is an interesting breed out of an older Zabeel mare and we think this cross may finally produce a quality racehorse. This 10th foal from her, by Redwood, may be the star in the family. This New Zealand sire is currently doing well and resides at Westbury Stud near Karaka.

The only share available in this derby bound Redwood colt is the 40% Principal Owner Share. For more information about other horses and smaller shares please make contact today:
