Always in the Top 10

Andrew is firmly planted among the elite horse trainers on the premiership and maintains an impressive strike rate of between 6-7 (Over the last five seasons). In 2025 he reached the impressive milestone of 1000 career wins.

Black type success

Of all his 1000+ wins, nearly 150 of those have come at Group & Listed level with his biggest been G1 Winner's Aegon & Mustang Valley. This season to date the Forsman Stable has had 5 black type wins and are on target for a few more.

Aussie raider at heart

When in partnership with Murray Baker, Andrew was exposed to the art of setting horses for the big races across the ditch. Murray was the master at it, and now Andrew, more than anything, loves to campaign horses across Australia for owners keen to join in on the action.

Partnership mindset

Andrew and stable foreman Joe Walker are all about partnerships, and work very closely with syndicators. They know procuring new horses and managing groups of owners is hard work. Both Andrew and Joe collaborate well with Racing Managers, and communicate great with the owners.

About

Andrew Forsman has established himself as one of New Zealand’s leading thoroughbred trainers through a career built on consistency, and  performance. Based in Cambridge, Forsman first gained prominence through his long-standing training partnership with legendary horseman Murray Baker, a collaboration that became one of the most successful operations in New Zealand racing.

Forsman joined the Baker stable in 2005 before becoming co-trainer in 2012. Over the next decade, the Baker-Forsman partnership secured multiple Group One victories on both sides of the Tasman, preparing elite performers including Dundeel, Mongolian Khan and Jon Snow.

Following Baker’s retirement in 2022, Forsman assumed full control of the Cambridge operation and has continued to build on the stable’s established reputation. Since training in his own right, he has consistently featured within the top 10 of the New Zealand Trainers’ Premiership while maintaining strong strike rates across both domestic and Australian campaigns.

Forsman has now recorded more than 1,000 New Zealand training victories, with close to 150 wins achieved at Group and Listed level. His solo training career has already produced multiple black type winners, including two Group One victories, further reinforcing his position within the upper tier of New Zealand racing.

His operation combines traditional horsemanship with modern training systems, placing strong emphasis on horse welfare, preparation precision, and long-term performance. Commercially minded, and internationally competitive, with a proven record of sustained success within one of racing’s most demanding environments, Kingmakers welcomes Forsman as one of our preferred trainers.
