Overview

This 2 year old by Wild Ruler arrived safely at Highline Thoroughbreds in Cambridge, following purchase at the 2025 Karaka Ready to Run Sale. The horse has settled in very well, and after 10 days on the farm he has quickly found his groove. He is easy to handle, has a lovely temperament and is a strong eater. He is already active in the paddock and will head into pre-training in early January following a spell of eight weeks.

This strapping son of Wild Ruler is destined for an autumn 2 year old campaign, and following a Spring 3 year old campaign in New Zealand, where he will target short to middle distance black type races. He will go to Cambridge trainer Andrew Foresman in late January following 3-4 weeks of pre-training. The young horse, by a first season Australian speed sire, will come up early - so there won’t be much waiting around! Owners who want to get to the races, should see him trialling and possibly racing in the autumn.

Please note, this horse has already won a 600m Levin jump out with Marton trainer Fraser Auret who prepared the horse for this year's Ready to Run Sale - in that track gallop he showed blistering speed and stacks of natural ability winning by over 100m.

This gelding would suit an owner who wants a horse trained in the northern regions and has dreams of winning a big race like the NZB Kiwi at Ellerslie, the Guineas or even a Railway. Kingmakers' trainer Andrew Forsman is kicking plenty of goals, and currently has multiple runners on all of the big Saturdays through the season. Last year Andrew was fourth on the trainers premiership. He also has the option to transfer quality horses to his satellite stable in Melbourne.

The Horse Himself

How do we sum up this strapping son of first season sire Wild Ruler? In one word, speed. The sire was fast and the dam was also very quick - winning 5 races, 3 in succession in Perth, while trained by Adam Durant. Wild Ruler is a fresh new sire on the scene, and his oldest progeny are 2 year olds. His early trial horses are looking promising with ICONIC RULER running second at Caulfield in mid-November and another, THREESOME winning a city trial, and then running sixth in the Golden Gift at Randwick. Other trial performers include SAVAGE LOOK, a six length Scone trial winner. Early signs are positive for Wild Ruler, and we are excited to have secured one in New Zealand to syndicate.
This horse has a wonderful pedigree, the first dam KENNOCHA is by Lonhro, and she was a beautiful horse, who was fast and tough. She also won twice as a spring 3 year old and got to the races early and performed well on top of the ground. We think the cross with Wild Ruler will be perfect- whoever in Australia did the mating pulled the right reign. The second dam is from a well-known Godolphin family who had 9 runners, with all 9 winning. She herself also won at two years of age. Godolphin progeny don’t usually go through the sales ring as they often race their own – so this horse is a real highlight pedigree wise.
Pedigree aside, he has a very relaxed nature. A very strong and physical type, he has great conformation, and is well put together and shapes up well as the horse capable of running fast sectionals.

We estimate he will grow to be about 16.2 hands and sit at 515kg racing weight as a 3-year old. He is very strong through the middle (girth), a physical attribute we look for in 2 year olds, like CEOWULF who Kingmakers’ founder, Leighton Howl purchased out of the NZB Ready to Run sale a few years ago.
